My custom order from Etsy

Well after a lot of hard work. I finished my order from a great lady on Etsy. She has some great little dolls so check out her shop Becky ordered my listing Cherry Dress she requested a lower neckline. I picked out the black with red cherries she loved the fabric choice as much as me!

Because she is a musician I jazzed up the bolero for her. My listing does not have a collar so I made a collar so it could either lay flat or be put up. I had to do a lot of hand sewing to make it reverisble.

Here are some pictures of the finished product. I was hoping to work on my wedding dress but I have another order. No I'm not complaining!

Here are the different looks that she can achieve with the bolero:
The final dress front & back

There is something about Becky that I really like so for a special gift I made her this Rock & Rolling Petticoat
Stay tuned for my next order. It is going to be a Ocean Blue and SEXY!!!

Day Three: Never enough fabric

I got off to a bad start today as I didn't have enough fabric for the overlay. So I go to the fabric store and get a couple more yards. I start to cut the godets and I don't have enough of that fabric either. So I did what I could with what I had on hand today. I have to take a couple days off because I have an Etsy order that needs to get done. Anyways here is my progress of Day 3.

Here is the skirt part of the dress:

I started on the overlay. Here is the front part. The godlets are going to look so great. There are seven all together. The sides have not been attached but you get the idea:

I finished the lining and attached it to the bodice. I put the trim on the bodice but can't finish it until I put the zipper on. The trim is very pretty and simple. It does not overpower the dress. I haven't decided if I'm going to use it on the sleeves but it will trim the waistline.

Day 2 Wedding Dress Accomplishments and Drawbacks

I've had an eventful day with my dress. My biggest drawback is dealing with three different fabrics. Thank goodness for #9 Needle and a seam ripper.

I don't know how many times I had to adjust and cut the lining to be able to fit the bodice perfectly. Does it stretch on purpose? I could of screamed. Good news, I got the lining done aside from eventually attaching...another battle in the making.

Here is how the lining turned out. You can now see the outline of what this dress is going to become. I love the back so much!!!
The next pictures are the fabric for godets which will attach to the overlay skirt and the almost completed bodice. I still need to add some elastic for the sleeves and add the finishing. Which finishing will be very last.

Day 1 Creating my wedding dress

I will be sharing each moment as my dress unfolds. Hopefully turning out perfect. First my inspiration...Audrey Hepburn of course. From "My Fair Lady".
Though I love the dress. It is a bit gody for me. I am looking for the same elegance of the dress not a replica. I haven't decided my tiarra yet but am almost positive I will use the one from the movie "Roman Holiday".

I selected a off white kind of goldish bridal taffeta fabric, static free lining and a vintage style lace for the overlay. There will be godets which are a goldish mesh. Will have to check back in to see how that is going to look.

This is how far I got today. I'm taking it slow because it is such a special dress
